Effects of Multiple Defects on Welded Joint Behaviour under the Uniaxial Tensile Loading: Fem and Experimental Approach

The research represents the ongoing investigation of welded joints behavior made low-carbon low-alloyed steel in presence different multiple defects. Following initial experimental and numerical analyses performed on low-grade steel, a set experiments were with specimens EN 1.0044 (commercial designation S275JR), along development new models. Four combinations made, including defects like undercuts, excess weld metal, misalignment, face sagging incomplete root penetration, considering that these are often encountered practice, can appear simultaneously. finite element method (FEM) was used to simulate experiments. Tensile properties HAZ metal calculated using strain measurements by digital image correlation (DIC) method. results good agreement ones.
